On October 2017, 10, the General Incorporated Association, Institute for Global Safety Promotion (IGSAP) and Nikkei BP Research Institute held a joint event with ITpro EXPO 13, entitled "Safety Revolution in the IoT/AI Era: Considering Japan's Future Safety by Benchmarking Leading Companies Around the World." The event was held in the Conference Tower Reception Hall at Tokyo Big Sight, where Nikkei BP's major event, ITpro EXPO 2017, was held. As a comprehensive enterprise ICT event, the event attracted a wide range of attendees, from corporate executives and information systems departments to key people in system user departments such as sales, planning, and general affairs, as well as system integrators and consultants. The event kicked off with a turnout of nearly 2017 attendees, many of whom were particularly interested in safety.

First, Yoshiyuki Tanaka, President and CEO of DuPont, known as a global benchmark company for safety, took the stage and shared his secrets for implementing the safety management that he has built up over the years at his company.
This was followed by two panel discussions.
The first theme was "Why does the UK construction industry have the best safety record in the world?" In fact, the number of fatalities in the construction industry in the UK is just under two per 2 people per year, which is about one-third of the number in Japan. Why does the UK construction industry have such a high safety record? We invited Nic Rigby, Chief Inspector at the International Headquarters of the HSE (Health and Safety Executive) from the UK, and the reasons for this were explored by IGSAP Director Isao Adachi, along with IGSAP Safety Executive Committee members Takashi Kawata, Executive Officer and General Manager of the Civil Engineering Technology Headquarters of Shimizu Corporation, and Toru Sugimoto, Acting Director of the Technical Director's Office of Quality, Safety and Environment at JGC Corporation.

The second theme was "Thinking about the Future of Safety." Moderated by IGSAP Director Toshihiro Fujita, the speakers were Rigby, IGSAP Chairman Masao Mukodono, Japan Industrial Accident Prevention Association Management System Assessment Center Specialist Hiroyuki Takaoka, and National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health Senior Researcher, Machinery System Safety Research Group Naonori Shimizu.Vision zeroWhile introducing the latest initiatives such as "Zero Accident Forum" and "Safety at Work," the panel discussed the safety challenges facing Japanese companies and the future direction of safety.
Although this symposium was short, lasting only half a day, we were able to have in-depth discussions looking ahead to a new era of safety.
