Director

Award title: Contribution to the establishment and dissemination of global machine safety technology

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
it is a great honor for me to achieve the Mukaidono Safety Award. Since about 20 years I have excellent contacts to scientists like Prof. Mukaidono or Prof. Mutoh and to partners of the industry like Dr. Fujita or Dr. Kabe. During my work at the IEC 61508 on functional safety I came in touch with several experts from Japan. This was the starting point of a fruitful cooperation also in several SIAS conferences and Nagaoka University. I am proud that my book on safe field bus systems was published in Japanese language 10 years ago.
During my visits in Japan I always learned from your innovative solutions in safety eg of mobile or collaborating robots. The research of Dr. Saito of JNIOSH on limit values for collision forces and pressures on human bodies was crucial for the research of my institute on the safety on collaborating robots. Today we have standardized this knowledge within ISO standards 10218-2 and TS 15066. The first robots without any fences are accepted for industrial use. Our cooperation during the years changed and improved the field of industrial safety. Thank you for your inspiring safety partnership.
Since 2016 JNIOSH is a partner of the world leading OSH research institutes and invited the so called Sheffield group in the first week of June 2017. Hope to see you during this time in Japan.

Individual and International Contribution Award / Message from TPA Chairman Sucharit Khuntanakulwong

Mukaidono Safety Award The Institute of Global Safety Promotion presents the award for outstanding contribution to President Dr. Sucharit Koontanakulvong

I am Sucharit Khuntanakulwong, Chairman of the Technology Promotion Association (Thailand-Japan) (TPA).
We are extremely honored to receive the prestigious Mukaidono Safety Award.
As you know, the Thai people are in mourning following the passing of King Bhumibol Adulyadej. Please forgive me for not being able to attend the award ceremony at this time.
Technology Promotion Association (Thailand-Japan) is an organization established by former international students and trainees who studied in Japan with the aim of transferring and disseminating the latest technology and knowledge from Japan to Thailand and developing human resources for the development of the Thai economy and industry. TPA is strongly aware of the need to prepare for Industry 4.0, which will promote automation and utilize robots in industry using more complex and advanced technologies. Accordingly, we believe it is important to further improve the machinery safety system.
In cooperation with the Japan Electrical Control Equipment Manufacturers' Association (NECA), we decided to introduce the Safety Basic Assessor to disseminate basic safety knowledge in Thailand, and TPA established a new training course to disseminate knowledge and certify qualifications. As a result, 2015 people took the training course in Thailand for six periods from 2016 to 1, and 6 people passed the course. We are currently preparing a Safety Sub Assessor course, and we will work hard to disseminate this course so that it will become basic knowledge for people studying mechanical design, and we hope to contribute to raising the level of safety in Thai industry.
Once again, I am extremely honored to receive the Mukaidono Safety Award. This award is a symbol of the mutual cooperation between NECA and TPA to improve safety in all industries in Thailand. I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude. Thank you very much.
