Top safety experts from Japan and around the world take to the stage for discussion
~A safer world makes companies stronger~

As we enter a society (Society 5.0) that utilizes the latest technologies such as IoT and AI, how are leading companies in Japan and around the world addressing safety?
The theme of this international symposium is "The world is strengthened by safety and companies," and we will deliver the latest information on safety. First, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry will give a keynote speech on the future of manufacturing through "Connected Industries," followed by a speech by our Chairman, Masao Mukaidono, on global trends in safety, and finally a speech by the Secretary General of the International Social Security Association (ISSA) on "Vision zero" initiative, and from Germany's Pilz, the progress of Industry 4.0. Furthermore, from Japan's leading manufacturing and construction companies, Toyota Motor Corporation and Shimizu Corporation, they will be presenting "Safety through the Harmonization of People, Things, and the Environment".Safety 2.0>Please announce your efforts regarding this issue.

Masao Mukaidono

Chairman, Safety Global Promotion Organization
Professor Emeritus, Meiji University (Doctor of Engineering)

He completed his doctoral studies in electrical engineering at the Meiji University Graduate School of Engineering in 1970. He became a professor at Meiji University's School of Engineering in 1978 and at the School of Science and Technology in 1989, before becoming a professor emeritus at Meiji University. He served as chairman of the Product Safety Committee at the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and chairman of the Elevator and Other Accidents Investigation Committee at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, and was awarded the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award in 2005, the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare Award in 2006, and the Prime Minister's Award for Contributions to Safety in 2015. He is an expert on safety in Japan.


Hans-Horst Konkorski

Secretary General, International Social Security Association

Born in Denmark. Graduated with a master's degree from Aalborg University. After serving in senior positions at the Danish Ministry of Employment and the Danish Work Environment Inspectorate (DWEA), he served as Director of the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA) for 10 years. He developed EU-OSHA into an organization that disseminates workplace safety and health information not only in Europe but also on a global level. In 2005, he was elected Secretary General of the ISSA. He has led efforts to strengthen governance of social security management, develop international guidelines, and conduct education and support programs, as well as international conferences and seminars. He is also the initiator of the World Social Security Forum, which has been held annually since 2007.

He has acted as a negotiator with international organizations such as the ILO (World Labor Organization), EU-OSHA, the World Bank Group, the OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development), the European Commission, and the World Economic Forum. He strongly promoted the Vision Zero campaign, which was launched globally at the 2017st World Safety and Health Conference (held in Singapore) in 21, and achieved participation from over 2000 companies and organizations in one year. He continues to work energetically around the world with the aim of improving the governance and services of social security institutions around the world.

Born in Germany, Dr. Schneider studied Business Administration at the University of Passau, with a Master of Business Administration. From 1996 to 2005 he was Managing Director of Pilz Automation Safety LP (Michigan), a subsidiary of Pilz in North America. Since 2005 he has been Managing Partner of Pilz GmbH & Co. KG, responsible for IT purchasing, R&D, quality control and production. Dr. Schneider is a member of the Board of Directors of the Electrical Automation Group of the German Mechanical Engineering Association (VDMA), Chairman of the Scientific Association of the Stuttgart Institute for Microelectronics, Chairman of the Board of the German Research Association for Automation and Microelectronics (DFAM) and Member of the Board of the Esslingen Academy of Science and Technology.

Mr. Nobuyuki Yamaki

Chairman of the Central Labor Accident Prevention Association

Born in Shizuoka Prefecture in 1951. Graduated from the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Tokyo in 1975. Joined Nippon Mining Co., Ltd. (later Nippon Mining Holdings Co., Ltd., now JX Holdings Inc.) in the same year. Became an executive officer at Nippon Mining & Metals Co., Ltd. (now JX Metals Corporation) in 2001. After serving as a director and managing director, he became vice president in 2013. During this time, he was mainly in charge of corporate departments such as general affairs, human resources, public relations, secretarial work, CSR promotion, and environment and safety. Since July 2016, 7, he has been the chairman of the Central Labor Accident Prevention Association.
