At the 7 Industrial Standardization Business Awards, Masao Doi of IDEC Corporation received the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award.

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) holds the Industrial Standardization Business Awards every year in October, designated as Industrial Standardization Promotion Month, to recognize individuals who have made outstanding contributions to industrial standardization promotion activities.

This year, IGSAP recommended Mr. Masao Doi of IDEC Corporation to receive the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award (Standardization and Rule-making Strategy Category).

 In order for superior technologies, products and services to be widely used and lead to the resolution of social issues and the growth of companies, appropriate rules must be established.
 It is especially important to develop standards and rules that link technologies, services, and markets with an eye to the future.

 The Industrial Standardization Awards (Prime Minister's Award, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award, and Director-General of the Innovation and Environment Bureau Award) are given to individuals and organizations who have made outstanding contributions to the creation, dissemination and promotion of Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS) and international standards, the creation of markets through standardization, and the resolution of social issues.
 This is a system to recognize organizations and individuals who are expected to make further contributions in these activities.

 As a representative of Japan for the IEC/ACOS (Advisory Committee on Safety), he proposed the IEC guide on "Cooperative Safety" from Japan and became a member of the Task Force.
 As a project leader, he worked on the development of the guide, contributing to the creation of a new market for cooperative safety.

 He also led the creation of the IEC white paper on collaborative safety, "Safety in the Future," as project manager.
 He contributed to accelerating international standardization of cooperative safety.
 Furthermore, by making the enabling device an essential part of the teaching device for industrial robots, it will create a new market for safety devices in robot teaching.
 He also established the first standard in ISO/TC281 (fine bubble technology), contributing to the creation of a new market.
